GARAGE : False floor in the Discovery

We purchased a 7 seat Land Rover Discovery 5 a couple of years ago. We absolutely love the car. The space in the boot makes packing for travelling a breeze. But there is 1 problem. To access your spare tyre you need to have access underneath the factory installed floor. Land Rover made a small panel that simply lifts up for easy access. You then wind down the spare tyre.

Now that’s great until you decide you want to put in a fridge slide or any type of draw system.

After researching online and chatting to the good folk in the Discovery 5 Owners Facebook Group we came up with the idea of putting in a false floor on gas struts. This allows us to easily bolt on a fridge slide and anything else we choose without compromising the 3rd row of seats, as well as lift the entire back panel up to access the spare wheel.
